We recognize that the skills and work ethic obtained through military training are among the best and transfer easily to a wide range of careers within our organization. Whether you are a veteran, reservist, military student, or transitioning out of the military, C&S provides the opportunity to grow your civilian career and continue to make a difference in the community at a company that values your experience and service. Meet Some of Our Team Members Scott Johnson HR Representative -- Scott Johnson- HR Representative How did you get started at C&S? I made the decision to make a major career change a few years ago. As part of that change I spent a lot of time in reflection. A LOT! I looked back at all those times and things I did that I loved which led me to the HR profession. C&S provided me the opportunity to grow in my role and work towards what I want to focus on as a career. What skills did you bring with you from the military that help you in your current role? People/life experience and perseverance. People put a lot of weight on military leadership. In reality, people are people with a lot of similar needs no matter where you work or what you do. The military gave me tons of opportunities to lead people and projects in a lot of unique situations. I also had to pivot a lot. I couldn’t tell you how many times I would show up to work and I would be given some random task or project that I had no idea how to tackle and you just go. So, you had to be flexible and you had to be willing to dive into anything. You also had to be someone everyone was willing to support to be successful in those things. I was nothing without the people I was surrounded by. What do you like about working at C&S? People here across the entire organization continually strive for excellence. There’s an awesome work ethic here. I love working at a place where the values we express as an organization are more than just words on paper or on our website. Eric Simons Business Analyst, Warehouse Operations -- Eric Simons - Business Analyst, Warehouse Operations What skills did you bring with you from the military that help you in your current role? The Marine Corps values are honor, courage and commitment. These values taught me to be accountable of my actions, have the integrity to always strive to do the right thing and to have the discipline to ensure efficiency and safety. During my time in the Marine Corps, I led two teams of Logistics Specialists throughout the Pacific Forward Operations. I also trained and mentored 15 Marines, in the safety and efficiency of working on international ports. Using these attributes at C&S, I was able to transition seamlessly. How did you get started at C&S? C&S found me. I was graduating and went to a career fair where, C&S happened to be. After talking to the representatives there, I decided the values were a good fit for me. I haven’t looked back. Would you recommend C&S to your military friends as an employer? I would certainly recommend C&S to all military friends. The company has their set values and does not sway away from them. Looking at transitioning military coming back to the civilian world, I believe that they would be a great asset to the company as well as the company for them. Matt Sindelar Leadership Development Program (LDP) -- Matt Sindelar - Leadership Development Program (LDP) As a veteran, what has your experience been like at C&S? I have found a lot of similarities between life in the military and working at C&S. When I was in the Air Force, the squadron I worked in was a close knit group that felt a lot like family because I was surrounded by people I could trust and depend on. I am extremely fortunate to have found that same ‘family’ feeling on the teams I have worked with at C&S. What skills from the military translated to your job at C&S? As an airborne linguist, I don’t have many opportunities to use Mandarin at C&S, but there are a lot of soft skills that I apply to my work every day. I am constantly in situations where I am working with peers, communicating ideas, and helping my team reach specific goals. C&S is a large organization, divided into smaller teams that all work together, much like the Air Force. Because of that, my experience in the Air Force has definitely helped me navigate C&S. How did you get started at C&S? After graduating from Dartmouth College, I joined the Leadership Development Program at C&S. It has been an incredible opportunity to explore the company and find where my interests align with C&S’s mission. What do you like about working at C&S? The people! C&S is filled with incredible people, which makes coming to work feel like a second family. Molly Webster Supervisor, I/B Transportation -- Molly Webster - Supervisor, I/B Transportation Do you get to work with other veterans at C&S? C&S employs veterans throughout the organization, and I get to interact with them regularly on projects, daily tasks and general support. I love having my military family here within the greater C&S family; It really helps make the transition from military to civilian life feel natural and ensure continued support. What skills did you bring with you from the military that help you in your current role? The military instilled discipline, work ethic, integrity and teamwork. These skills have helped me work as one team at C&S and dedicate myself to my work and seeing the organization succeed. Would you recommend C&S to your military friends as an employer? C&S has been very supportive of my continued service. I would recommend C&S to other veterans because the skills and values from the military translate very well into this environment and they will be challenged and supported if they are committed to this organization. How did you get started at C&S? C&S was actually a customer of mine when I was in Sales at another company. I enjoyed working with the team and designing strategies together, so when I moved to NH with my husband, I looked at C&S first to find the right fit. Their values and positive culture for employees attracted me to this organization. Mike Gould Warehouse General Manager (GM) -- Mike Gould - Warehouse General Manager (GM) How did you get started at C&S? Last year, I was approached by a recruiter who specializes in placing transitioning military veterans about a great opportunity to join a growing company. As I began to meet C&S leaders and understand the strategic growth plan, I was really excited to join a dynamic and growing team. What skills did you bring with you from the military that help you in your current role? Leadership, integrity, attention to detail and understanding the importance of teamwork are probably the top skills that I had a chance to observe and apply in the military. I’ve tri...
